Elise and DJ’s Oliver House wedding was a true representation of them as a couple. Oliver House is an extension of Maumee Bay Brewing in Downtown Toledo. Their private ceremony was in the Fireside room, and their reception was next door in the warehouse. The warehouse is decorated with wooden barrels that contribute to the industrial feel. This building has a special significance to them as it’s the same building they had their first date in! That bar was called Mutz, sadly now closed, but the the location was only one of the significant inclusions on their day.
The proposal
They got engaged on their two-year anniversary on a trip to Florida. This is where Elise’s Dad lives and DJ’s at local bars. On the day of the proposal, DJ and Elise’s dad snuck off to pick out an engagement ring. Later that night, at the bar Dad was DJing at, DJ proposed to Elise! Her dad then DJ’d their wedding, playing all their (and my) favorite throwback hits.
Their Reception at Oliver House
Their reception was a huge contrast to their ceremony, but it captured who they are perfectly. They wanted to have their ceremony be about them and only invited their parents to attend. Later, they threw a huge party for their family and friends and I don’t think I saw either one of them leave the dance floor for more than a few minutes! Their friends made sure the dance floor was packed and made use of their custom beer pong table. Elise REALLY loves Twilight, so she even decorated the tables with cut up heart-shaped pieces of the books and a few quotes. They then went to Forks and La Push as part of their honeymoon!
Walking distance to Middlegrounds
Oliver House is within walking distance of Middlegrounds Metropark, so we headed there after the ceremony for some portraits. It has a beautiful view of the Maumee River as well as the Anthony Wayne Bridge!
